According to the CRA circular, here is a breakdown of e-invoicing regulations in Canada:
- Before invoices are exchanged, the storage process must ensure the accuracy, security and integrity of the processed data and store them in a system.
- Business partners should store documents describing the relevant business and operational system, including how transactions are processed and managed.
- The documents shall use data exchange standards compatible with the CRA’s audit software.
- Businesses and organisations must store backup data.
